Recently,the"2024 Tsinghua University Chemistry Department East China Alumni Conference and Tsinghua Alumni Suzhou Tour"was held in Suzhou,sponsored by the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University and the Chemistry Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association,and co organized by Tsinghua Suzhou Environmental Innovation Research Institute.
  More than 100 Tsinghua alumni from all over the country participated in the event.Professor Xu Huaping,Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Chemistry,Professor Liu Lei,Director of the Department of Chemistry,and Li Heng,Deputy Chief Engineer of Tsinghua Suzhou Environmental Innovation Research Institute and alumnus of Tsinghua University in 1994,attended the conference and delivered speeches.Xu Honglei,Chairman of Suzhou Siyao and alumnus of Tsinghua University in 2001,was invited to give a keynote speech.

  At this conference,Xu Honglei gave a wonderful presentation titled"Exploring the Development and Commercialization of Chemical Drugs from the History of Levofloxacin Capsules".Ibuprofen is a well-known nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug,mainly used for pain relief,anti-inflammatory,and fever relief.50%of ibuprofen is inactive levoibuprofen,and 50%is active dextroibuprofen.dextroibuprofen capsules have revolutionized the technology of ibuprofen raw materials,removing inactive levoibuprofen and achieving significantly higher efficacy and safety than ibuprofen
  At the beginning,Xu Honglei raised a key and thought-provoking question:"As an upgraded version of ibuprofen,why did it take more than 10 years from research and development to commercialization for ibuprofen capsules?"With the dismantling of the elements from drug development to commercialization,Xu Honglei said that Tsinghua people not only need to dare to tackle technical problems,but also need to be able to formulate appropriate market strategies from a macro perspective.At the same time,we must be down-to-earth in every element,work closely with partners,and jointly deliver outstanding results to benefit more people.

  This seminar not only attracted experts,scholars,and industry practitioners in the field of chemistry,but also attracted widespread attention from fields such as energy,materials,medicine,and life sciences.We look forward to Tsinghua people continuing to steadily advance on the path of technological innovation and industrial development,strengthening cooperation and exchanges,and jointly promoting the prosperous development of chemical science and industry.
